I find it a bit ironic therefore that scientists advocating open data, open science, open notebooks and everything are having discussions within this closed system.

I didn't know Facebook was closed off like that -- in fact, since I keep hearing about it from open science conversations, I assumed the opposite. I wonder why this hasn't been a bigger deal? As far as I'm concerned, if it's locked away like that it's useless.
