About Me

Richard Akerman

This is my technology blog, Richard's Tech Reviews.

I have always been interested in technology, right from the early days of LED and LCD electronic games, Intellivision, Apple II, Commodore PET, VIC-20...  With the demise of the Amiga, I now use both Windows (XP) and Mac (OS X 10.4 Tiger).  Whenever possible I will test on both platforms.

I'm particularly interested in technology related to photos, including GPS loggers to provide data for automatically placing pictures on a map (geocoding photos), and LCD digital photo display frames.  I will also look at home networking and storage, and any other technologies or highly technical issues that interest me.

My background is in computer science, specifically software engineering.  I have experience working as a sysadmin and a network admin, as well as being a software designer.  I am currently a technology architect.

I have a principle of  "if I'm going to research this for myself, I might as well share the results" and the Internet makes that easy.

Unless otherwise indicated, all the equipment was purchased by me through regular retail channels.

Please note: I will often link to Amazon.com for additional information (and to provide you the ability to purchase), but be aware that Amazon.com does not ship electronics outside of the USA.
