In Library Widgets for Your Desktop, Jenny Levine (The Shifted Librarian) referenced Hidden Peanuts on Widgets and wrote
I love the idea of a "search the library" widget. Let's take it a step further, though, and add one that shows what I have checked out and when it's due.
So I said to my colleague Stephen Anthony, "Hey, make something like that". And he did:
CISTI Search Widget
We welcome your feedback. It is very much just an initial idea to show what is possible.
In case you haven't been following this area, you will need to download Yahoo Widgets to provide the platform to run the above search widget.
Yahoo Widgets (originally Konfabulator) lets you build little desktop gadgets using some JavaScript and XML.
This widget will run under Windows, I don't know if it will work in the Mac version of YW.
UPDATE 2006-01-03: The widget is hosted at widgetgallery.com and a link to it is now also available on CISTI Lab.
Spectacular! Any chance you (or stephen) would be willing to put together a tutorial on how you did it, or even just simple tips? I've been looking into making widgets myself, but there's a lot of material to wade through.
