The aim of this project is to develop, in the context of (i) a rapidly-changing technological environment and (ii) changes in researcher expectations of information provision, a better understanding of how researchers use academic library services (the emphasis is on library services, wherever and however they are delivered, whether or not they are provided in library buildings). This is in order to establish a base of evidence for providing policy and strategic advice to libraries and information services, their host universities and colleges, and funding bodies on the development of such services for the future and the implications for long-term research funding requirements.
UK Research Information Network (RIN) - Researchers' use of academic libraries and their services
The project is scheduled to conclude by February 2007. I am looking forward to their results, it should be very useful for any academic or research library.
Hi Richard,
I'm James, the RIN's new Communications Officer, and I've been strolling round the net looking for interesting blogs to keep up on, and people who have similar interests in what the RIN is doing.
Wonderful to hear you're looking forward to our report, and I hope there are some other projects that catch your eye in the future.
Hope you enjoy Alicante!
James
