When I created a Wikipedia entry for the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA), as part of my quest to understand the federal science & technology advisory structure, and then subsequently criticised some
changed to the entry, I never imagined it would start the following chain of events:
- the CCA contacted me by phone to discuss my concerns
- they invited me to their offices (in downtown Ottawa) to discuss further and also, as it turned out, to talk a bit about science in the Web 2.0 world in general
- after a couple rounds of proposed revisions, they invited me back to their offices to help with the updating of the entry
Amazing the way that the Internet enables unexpected connections.
My kudos to Katherine Levitt who did the revisions and the actual Wikipedia text entry. I just provided some critique, my perceptions of good Wikipedia etiquette and minimal syntax guidance. I appreciate the warm reception they gave to my comments and ideas.
