At Allen Press I mentioned that most of the "science" blogs I found spent their time on (mostly American) politicized science sideshows (creationism, global warming denial, etc.)
By contrast, it appears that
http://www.scientificblogging.com/
is trying to keep the focus on just the science.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for taking notice. 'Just science' might be as succinct a marketing statement as we can make. We can't avoid politics in science but we can at least let all sides have their voice so we don't have any political or ideological litmus test for writers. Our only requirement is that articles be science. We even try to stay as financially transparent as possible by paying the bulk of any ad revenue to the writers.
We're in a private beta right now and going into public beta soon and we'll let everyone who wants to write about science have their own personal column and they can make a little money at it also.
Web 2.0 + Science 2.0 = us!
