John, you're quite right. Part of the idea about how to deal with the digital environment is to accept that it's difficult to monetize digital objects, so you have to find ways to create physical objects or events that are unique, and monetize those. An author charging for the unique experience of a physical conference, while also giving the his audiobook away, is indeed a perfect example of this.
