The QR Code is a 2D barcode that can be used to encode information for decoding by e.g. cellphone applications. Some cellphones such as the Nokia N82, other new Nokia cameraphone models, and the Google G1 Android phone come with a reader application built in.
UPDATE 2022-09-05: All modern smartphones running iOS or Android can read QR codes, usually with an option to read them automatically from the camera view. END UPDATE
